It can be a bit overwhelming with all the skin care rituals out there, some of which are not even needed. To make life easier, here are 10 daily skin care essentials from Discovery fit & Health to know about!

1. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! It comes as no surprise how important moisturizing is, especially during the winter months! To keep skin looking healthy and hydrated, remember to moisturize.

2. Cleansing may seem like a no brainer when it comes to skin care, but it cannot be emphasized enough. In order to maintain a healthy glow, cleansing is vital. Remember to look for a gentle, soap-free cleanser!

3. Exfoliants are also important for maintaining healthy skin. Exfoliants are great for removing dead skin cells from your face! You can find great natural AHAs in our Alpha-Hydrox product line!

4.  Eliminate those pesky Bad Habits! We all have one or two bad habits and they can get in the way of improving your skin care. Smoking for example, can lead to premature aging of the skin as well as adding extra wrinkles around the eyes. Don’t let bad habits stand in the way of affecting your skin care.

5. Dab on that sunscreen, rain or shine! It is no secret that the sun is harmful to your skin. That is why it is so important to include sunscreen in your daily regimen.

6. H20 is essential to your skin care. Water not only hydrates your body, resulting in  shutterstock_175132964    nourished skin, but also clears away built-up toxins found in skin cells.

7. Get some Zzz! Getting enough sleep is an important ritual to maintain. Sleep is skins time to rejuvenate and especially relax.

8. Maintaining a nutritious diet is not only important for your body and physic, but your skin as well. Balancing antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and nutrients will help in keeping your skin young and healthy.

9. Along with diet comes exercise. Besides being important for good health, exercise aids in removing toxins from the body, fights acne, and boosts collagen. So take a brisk walk and your skin will thank you!

I am been using OIay regenerist for years, but have a lot of problems with wrinkles and super dry skin, I research for hours and decide to try you products I never use aha it will be my first time, I order aha anti-wrinkle kit for dry skin. I have sensitive skin I am thinking of trying the lotion in the night only and the night cream in the morning is this ok? I forgot to add the sunscreen can I use the one that I have from Olay, or any kind?

    • Hi Norma! Thanks for trying Alpha Hydrox! We are happy to try and answer your questions. First, the products you bought are the best ones to try based on a sensitive dry skin type. It is a very good idea to use the AHA product at night to start. You may want to use it every other day if you are very sensitive. It is fine to use the night cream anytime of day. As your skin becomes accustomed to the use of AHAs you may want to use it every day and later both morning and night. If you are using and AHA during the day, you must wear a sunscreen. Any sunscreen is fine as long as it is an SPF 15 or higher. Please be aware that you may experience a tingling sensation the first few times you use an AHA. This is normal and let’s you know the AHAs are working. It should only last a minute or so. The alpha hydroxy acids are loosening the glue-like bonds that hold dead skin cells to the surface. As you skin adjusts this feeling will go away. Thanks for checking with us and for trying Alpha Hydrox! Check back and let us know how it is working for you.

I recently discovered your products and am really enjoying them. I’m using the Extra Strength Deep Therapy Foot Cream, great stuff. However, I’m confused as to whether I’m using the Retinol ResQ & AHA Soufflé correctly. I’m in my mid-fifties and have dry skin in winter, normal skin in the warmer months. Dry underye area all the time and oily eyelids. I cleanse, use a toner, facial, serum, under eye serum and then moisturizer. At night, cleanse, tone, then switch off between the ResQ one night, then AHA Soufflé the next. I skip serums and moisturizers at night. Can I apply the ResQ & AHA on top of each other? Should I follow up with serums, moisturizers?

    • Hi Lori! Thanks for using Alpha Hydrox! We are so glad you like the products, especially the Foot Cream. We will try to answer your questions about the other products. Let’s start with a daytime routine. We suggest the following routine – Cleanse. apply the AHA Souffle, the eye serum and then a moisturizing sunscreen. Toners are fine to use as well but often as we age they can make your skin feel drier. At night we suggest the following routine – cleanse, apply Retinol ResQ, the eye serum and then a moisturizer. AHAs can be used during the day as long as you are wearing a sunscreen. Retinol should be used ONLY at night. Most women over 50 benefit from using products that hydrate, like a moisturizer, at night. We do not recommend using the AHA and the Retinol together. Both are minor irritants. That’s how they work to affect changes in the skin. Combined they are too harsh for most people to tolerate. If you do not want to use a treatment product (AHA) during the day then continue to alternate them as you have been doing. We hope this helps to answer your questions. Contact us anytime if you have other concerns. Thanks again for using Alpha Hydrox! As a small American manufacturer, your support means a lot to our 64 employees and their families.
